Speaking of the power of photography, Garry Winogrand once said, “Putting four edges around a collection of information or facts transforms it.” Take that idea one step further: what happens when you place a frame—a doorway, window, mirror, picture frame, architectural element, or other structure—within the photograph itself?

Praxis Gallery presents photographic art that uses one or more frames within the image as the conceptual foundation for visual expression. Whether emphasizing a subject, creating layers of meaning, revealing relationships between spaces, or exploring perspective, boundary, reflection, and isolation, we welcome all genres and interpretations.
